Abia Business Club CIC

Social-purpose driven business and community network

ABOUT US

Abia Business Club C.I.C is a community interest company. We operate as a social enterprise in the social economy and our main objective is to have a social impact rather than make a profit for the owners or stakeholders.  The Business Club operates by providing business supports and other related services for the market in an entrepreneurial and innovative fashion and uses its profits primarily to achieve social objectives.  The Business Club is managed in an open and responsible manner and, in particular, involves stakeholders affected by both its business and other community-led not-for profit making activities.  Abia Business Club C.I.C applies practical, innovative and sustainable approaches to benefit society in general, with an emphasis on those who are marginalized and poor within our community and other minority ethnic groups.  Our approach is to use enterprise as tool for empowerment, employability and financial inclusion.

Vision and Values

Our vision is an inclusive society – We are of the belief that social enterprise presents the best approach for creating a society where everyone within the community is socially included and financially empowered.  Our mission is to achieve this by creating a favourable platform in which social enterprises can thrive.

We do this through:

  • Business Support services for members of our community and those of other Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups within the United Kingdom. The support services may include advice on business start-ups, business growth and business continuity.
  • Creating awareness of business supports available to micro, small and medium enterprise owners for members of our community and other Black and Minority Ethnic groups within the United Kingdom
  • Training and Development to enable members of our community, refugees and other Black and Minority Ethnic groups acquire the necessary employability skills so that they are both socially and financially included in the mainstream UK society
  • Business networking - as a valuable way to expand knowledge, learn from the success of others, get new clients, access funds and tell others about own business. It is expected that networking will result in opportunities for greater social inclusion and financial empowerment.
  • Engaging in and to carrying out projects and business activities to tackle social problems, improve communities, people's life chances, or the environment; and reinvest the profits back into the business or the local community
  • Monthly Business Networking

  • Black and Minority Ethnic Groups residing in the United Kingdom
  • Refugees and New arrivals to the United kingdom who require advice, training and other supports to start own businesses and/or acquire employability skills

  • Tailor-made employability training which enables the individuals to acquire the necessary skills for employment
  • Valuable supports through the processes of writing bankable business plans for new start-ups
  • Access to community-led ‘one-stop-shop’ for financial inclusion through enterprise.  In a community led ‘one-stop-shop’ the individual is supported by those who have had previous experiences as Refugees, Migrants and Minority Ethnic Groups both in business, social and other related issues.  Those experiences help to improve the chances of success in the business endeavours of the individuals.
  • Other supports (such as financial, youth sports, food bank and clothing) to promote inclusion and improve quality of life for members of our community, refugees, migrants and others Minority Ethnic Groups
  • Access to funds to own projects

Benefits to wider Society

  • Networking promotes community cohesion and building bridges due to the interaction and regular meet-up by the members of the community
  • Business support services helps to promote employability through entrepreneurship – when people are employed, financial inclusion is improved, and individuals have sense of belonging in the society and this further reduces unemployment related-crime in the UK and across Europe among refugees, migrants and minority ethnic groups.
  • Promotes entrepreneurship development; and provides the platform and direct touch approach for delivering projects directly to communities, migrants, refugees and SMEs within the minority ethnic groups who have the need of the projects and programmes
